Nurturing Purpose in Your Child

Scripture 

Jeremiah 1:5 AMPC

Before I formed you in the womb I knew [and] approved of you [as My chosen instrument], and before you were born I separated and set you apart, consecrating you; [and] I appointed you as a prophet to the nations. [Exod. 33:12; Isa. 49:1, 5; Rom. 8:29.]

As parents, it's easy to wish for our children to seamlessly fit in and follow the crowd. Yet, raising children with purpose means encouraging them to embrace who God uniquely designed them to be, even when it feels challenging.

🌟🌟 This morning, I reflected on why God made me to be so intentional and driven—always striving for better and refusing to settle until things improve for His glory. I thought, how much simpler life would be if I just conformed, but that's not who I am. He created me as a catalyst, someone who initiates change. As parents, this same truth can guide how we nurture our children, encouraging them to step confidently into their calling.

🌼When your child asks, “Why am I different?” remind them that God designed them with a specific purpose. Just like David couldn’t wear Saul’s armor to face Goliath (1 Samuel 17), your child cannot fulfill their God-given mission while trying to imitate someone else. They were made to shine in their own way, with their own tools, for His glory.

🌼Encourage your child to walk in their own gear and embrace their individuality. Let them know they don’t have to wear “Saul’s attire” or fit into anyone else's mold. Help them see that their uniqueness is a gift—a sign of God’s intentional design.

🌼Let’s inspire our children to boldly live out their purpose and trust in the journey that God has planned for them. 🌼You have the privilege of being their guide as they discover: 🌠They are them, and I am me!

Prayer 

Lord, thank You for the gift of children. Thank You because Lord You do great and mighty works through our children. Indeed Your purpose for them is more than we can imagine. Help us not to limit them or make them conform to the culture but help them to shine and fulfill the purpose that You created them for. Bless them as they arise and shine in their generation.

Reflection for Children

Dear child, do you know Who lives in you?  

Jesus is with you every day, even when you can't see Him. Just like Peter and John, who walked with Jesus and saw His amazing power, you also carry His name and love wherever you go! They believed in Jesus so much that when they met a man who could not walk, they simply spoke His name, and the man stood up!  

You have the same power to make a difference because Jesus lives in you. With His name and the Holy Spirit, you can be strong, brave, and kind to others. You can pray for someone, encourage a friend, and bring hope to those around you. Jesus wants you to know that you are His child, and He has given you a heart full of faith and courage!  

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for living in me and for always being with me. You are powerful, and You help me to be strong and kind. Help me to remember that I can do great things through You, just like Peter and John did. Let me shine Your love everywhere I go, and never be afraid because You are always with me! In Jesus’ name, amen.

Parenting Friday: Teach Them!

Today's Scripture:

Deuteronomy 6:7 (AMPC)  

"You shall whet and sharpen them so as to make them penetrate, and teach and impress them diligently upon the [minds and] hearts of your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up."

Reflection

As parents, we are presented with one of the most important callings: guiding our children in their spiritual journey. But ask yourself:  

✅Who is teaching your children the Word of God?  

✅Who is answering their questions about salvation and why it matters?  

While Sunday school is an invaluable step in planting the seeds of faith, it is not enough. The true nurturing of that seed takes place at home. Parents are the primary nurturers, the ones tasked with weeding out influences that don’t align with godly principles and watering the seed of faith daily. Yet, to do so effectively, we must first know how to identify those seedlings of growth and influence.  

Let us rise to this call diligently and prayerfully, shaping the next generation of believers as God intended.

Action Points for Parents:  

1. Be Intentional: Set time daily for family devotions and open discussions about faith. Create an atmosphere where your children feel safe asking questions.  

2. Model Faith: Children learn by example. Show them what a Christ-centered life looks like through your actions, words, and decisions.  

3. Strengthen Your Knowledge: Equip yourself with scriptural wisdom to confidently teach and nurture their faith journey.  

4. Partner with the Church: Complement Sunday school teaching by reinforcing lessons at home. Stay connected with teachers to understand what your children are learning.  

5. Pray Consistently: Commit your children and your role as a parent to prayer. Ask God for wisdom, patience, and guidance in fulfilling this divine responsibility.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for entrusting us with the incredible mandate of teaching our children Your Word. Help us to be diligent and faithful in this calling, knowing that the future generation depends on our teaching and modeling. May we guide our children in the way they should go and nurture their faith daily.  

Blessed be Your name, and may it never be said of us that we failed in this responsibility. We commit our families to You, Lord, trusting You for the grace and wisdom to lead them.
